A Good Night at Work

A few nights ago I had a patient that didn't really need to be in ICU.  He was a very pleasant little guy, in his 60's, and bored to death laying in the bed all day.  As I went in to assess him, he was flipping through the few channels on TV frantically searching for something decent to watch.  He saw an advertisement for a Homecoming special and he got really excited, "Oh yes, the Gaither's are coming on!"  Sorry sir, it's just a preview.

That opened up the door for an hour's worth of conversation about GVB and SSQ.  He was familiar with Ernie from his days with Old Friends and the Cathedrals.  Of course, I got my photo album out of my bag and began to share with him my wonderful experience from Huntsville.  We talked and talked about music for the longest time.  He said that a lot of people my age are not interested in gospel music and he wanted to know how I got into it, how I liked the Cathedrals, did I like George Younce, etc...

However, all the good conversation aside, he mentioned that a lot of people do not like SSQ because of their "energy" on the Get Away Jordan video.  Unable to bite my tongue, I gave him my "I love SSQ" speech.  I told him all the good things about them that make them "the best".  Don't know if he'll ever give them a chance, but the seed was planted
